THE phase I of the multi-million naira Sokoto International Conference Centre along Birnin Kebbi road has reached 85% completion stage according to the project Consultant, Arc. Al-Mustapha Ibrahim Rabah.
” We hope to meet the date line given before May 29th. You can see the speed at which the work is going. Men and machines have been fully mobilised. We are determined to get it done.”
Arc. Rabah told reporters in Sokoto Tuesday after an inspection tour of the project to assess the level of progress.
He said the edifice which is a model has the capacity to accommodate over 1,500 people at a time.
” It has basic adjourning facilities as VIP and mini halls, lounges, shops and convenience. It is also secured with tarred road network.
” The project was conceived and initiated 4 years ago by the immediate past government of Aliyu Wamakko and is being implemented by the current administration of Governor Aminu Tambuwal”, he explained.
According to him” the project has tremendous economic value to add to the state’s IGR and is the first of its kind within the axis of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states”, he pointed out.
According to him, the Phase II consist of a state of the art hotel and 18 holes Golf Course recreational facility which approval would soon be released for commencement of work.
” I cannot tell you the cost until approval is given”, he explained.
In the same vein, the Managing Director of the contracting firm, Diamond Global Engineering and Construction company, Alhaji Muhammad Bello said already the project has reached finishing stage” We are largely making some finishing touches and within 3 days we would have made significant progress towards completion.
” Target given to us is on or before May 29 and we are optimistic that it will be completed within the earliest possible time”, he assured
