Arrangements have been concluded by the Sokoto state Government in collaboration with the Industrial Training Fund(ITF) for the training of no fewer than 500 youths in the state on various skills according to Alhaji Musa Ausa, Commissioner for Youths and SportsDevelopment.
Ausa made the disclosure to reporters in Sokoto Thursday.
The Commissioner said the benefiting youths would be trained on skills to include tiling, interlocking and baking, among numerous others.
The aim of the training Ausa said was to enable the youths acquire skills to be self reliant, hence make them useful contributors to the development of the society.
He further noted that it was only by passionately equipping them with
Vocational skills and through other responsive programmes of government that the rapid unemployment growth could be reduced.
He explained that the move was in line with the agenda of Governor Tambuwal to empower the youths to make them relevant and keep them away from social vices such as crime, cultism, restiveness and idleness.
Ausa stated that the training programme would span for a duration of three months in the state.
He also reiterated the commitment of the Tambuwal administration towards sustaining the tempo of empowering youths to be productive members of the society.
