The Sokoto state opposition All Progressive Congress, APC yesterday in accused the Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and the PDP of maladministration and failure to deliver good governance to the people of he state.
The opposition APC which hitherto, remain uncomfortable with Tambuwal’s style of leadership also frowned over his plans to receive N28.7bn fresh loan for the state.
Addressing a press conference in Sokoto , the State Chairman of APC, Hon. Isa Sadiq Acida, described Tambuwal’s move as an act of ‘wickedness’ to saddle unborn generations with debts that were inexplicable.
According to Achida who was flanked by other party executives ” We in the APC are seriously disturbed by the recent disclosure that the Sokoto State Government is going to receive another huge loan of N28.7 billion.”
However, Achida said ” with this development, Sokoto state is set to become the second most indebted state in Nigeria, second only to Lagos.
“We are disturbed by the fact that a State like Sokoto, with an economy that is weak, is further being impoverished with loans that are likely to be squandered on non profitable ventures”, Acida alarmed.
In the same vein, the Chairman raised the party’s concerns over what it described as a deliberate removal of certain individuals from the payroll of the Local Government Councils of the state.
“These deliberate removals, otherwise called omissions, have become another political weapon in the hands of the PDP administration in Sokoto state.
“We wish to categorically call on the State Government to put a stop to this this political vendetta. If the Government does not call its officials to order, the APC will not hesitate to take a roll call of the victims and their relevant data, for appropriate action.”
Besides, he said the party has commended the people of the state for their endurance, adding that “every right thinking citizen of the state must be seriously disbursed with the way and manner the PDP led administration has been running the affairs of our state.”
It further accused opposition PDP in the state for unable to differentiate between politics and administration, while describing the opposition led administration in the state as complete failure.
On the human oriented projects being executed by governor Tambuwal, the APC Chairman said ” the few capital projects are more intended as a window dressing to impress visitors”, pointing out that the quality of the projects can not stand test of time.
” A number of them have already started cave in, especially the new dual carriage way near the Federal Science College, Sokoto,” Achida concluded.
