Barely a week to the end of the holy month of Ramadan fast, the statewide curfew imposed by the Sokoto state government in line with the federal government directive has been reviewed effective from 10pm to 6am daily.
The development followed a meeting Friday by the state Joint Security Council and the state Task Force on COVID-19 presided over by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state.
The decision to review the curfew according to the Chairman of the Task Force on COVID-19, Dr Muhammad Ali Inname took into consideration the request by people of the state for the extension of time.
Penultimate week the state government had imposed an 8 pm to 6 am curfew in its effort to curtail the spread of the Corona virus.
While noting the essence of relaxing the curfew, the state government according to Inname admonished people of the state to ensure compliance with the World Health Organization (WHO), the federal Ministry of Health and state Ministry of Health guidelines on the prevention of COVID-19.
The state government reminded citizens of the state on the need to maintain the use of face masks, social distancing, use of hand sanitizer in washing hands and other measures that may be stipulated and deemed important against the spread of the deadly virus.
