GOVERNOR Aminu Waziri Tambuwal along with his deputy, Hon. Muhammad Mannir Dan Iya on Wednesday took oath of allegiance with a pledge by the governor to reposition and strengthen the state on the path of greatness and development for all.
Tambuwal is sworn for a second term of four years after defeating his APC opponent and his former deputy, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto with a narrow margin following a rerun election to emerge as the state governor elect in the 2019 polls.
The governor who dispassionately stressed that he would be just and fair to all in the delivery of service to the state, enumerated health, agriculture, education and infrastructure development as well security as priority aspects in his second tenure.
The state Acting Chief Judge, Justice Muhammad Sa’idu Sifawa administered the oath of office on the governor and his deputy amidts thunderous ovation shortly after Tambuwal inspected a special parade of honour mounted by the Sokoto state police command to add glamour to the ceremonial event.
Tambuwal who spoke shortly after taking oath of allegiance said he noted with fulfilment the mandate given him by the heart loving people of Sokoto state to steer the ship for another term of four years.
“I will do everything humanly possible to justify the confidence reposed in me in all spheres of responsibilities.
He however stated that the party and his government went through turbulent and difficulty experience, crossing several barricades in the political journey emphasising that it was time everyone embrace reality by demonstrating the needed abilities to evolve necessary change that would place the state ahead.
” we should all bury our differences and work in the interest of Sokoto state which belongs to all o us”, he urged.
Accordingly, Tambuwal assured of encouraging positive circumstance that will warrant his government to propel a prosperous development of the state through human oriented policies and programmes at every level in state.
The former House of Representatives Speaker said his government would work out modalities that would provide enabling opportunity to develop agriculture, noting that it was the mainstay of the state economy” we will sustain the procurement of fertilizers at subsidised rate, insecticides and pesticides as well other inputs inorder to boost food production and security in he state and nation.
In thesame vein, Tambuwal disclosed that special priority will be placed on efforts to responsively harness the state’s basic economic potentials as well strengthen mechanism for sustained business exploits, boost investment and commercial activities in addition to reviving ailing companies for full capacity operations.
Tambuwal hitherto, assured of a speedy setting up of a committee to study and advise on the best and quick way for the implementation of the new national minimum wage in the state civil service.
While noting that the state has of late joined in the ranks of those facing security challenges, Tambuwal said the state government was making robust and impacting efforts through collaborative synergy with all security agencies and traditional leaders.
” We will not relent as we are making concerted efforts to reverse the trend. Soon we will convene a strategic security summit that will draw the participation of necessary and sundry stakeholders”, he disclosed.
He further thanked and acknowledged the unequalled efforts of the transition committee for providing a guiding blueprint aimed at strengthening opportunities and ease governance in the state.
Accordingly, the governor assured his administration continued respect and collaboration with the state traditional institution and leaders for a more harmonious working tie.
Dignitaries at the occasion included Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, former deputy governors Ahmed Mohammed Gusau, Mukhtari Shehu Shagari and Ambassador Senator Abdallah Wali.
Others were Alhaji Umaru Kwabo A. A., SSG, HoS, Alhaji Ibrahim Magaji Gusau, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, Grand Khadi of Sokoto state,Senator Ibrahim Danbaba Dambuwa, Hon . Abdulsamad Dasuki, Speaker Kwara state House of Assembly, the State PDP chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Milgoma and his Katsina state counterpart, dissolved cabinet members, Sokoto stste Assembly Speaker, Hon. Salihu Maidaji, politicians, members of business community, party supporters and well wishers among numerous others.
Meanwhile, horse riders thrilled the ceremonial event with a mini display of horse race while tribal cultural troupes of Yoruba as well a PDP musical loyalist, Oruma added colour to the historic occasion with a song titled” Ta leko, ta koma”, meaning” It pipped and disappeared” to climax the event.
