The self-acclaimed Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi, has rejected allegations that he single-handedly fabricated the disputed agency, asserting that multiple Federal Government ministries, departments, and agencies officially recognized and interacted with the body.

Adeyemi, who remains in police custody, raised the defense on Sunday in a statement issued by his legal team, signed by Festus Akhigbe.
Through his lawyers, Adeyemi demanded to appear before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the council—chaired by Representative Yusuf Gagdi—warning that any report generated without his input would deny him his constitutional right to a fair hearing.
Dismissing attempts to frame him as an isolated impostor, the legal team claimed that the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation acknowledged council documents and facilitated its office allocation at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja.
The statement added that heads of security agencies attended council programs, while the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) allocated property to the council, requested a processing fee, and presented a plaque of recognition to its leadership.
