Commissioner of Education Approves the Review of the Second Chance Education Policy to ICT Remote Learning Option

The Kaduna State Government has approved the Review of the Second Chance Education Policy to ICT Remote Learning Option. The approval was made at a Public Policy Dialogue On Second Chance Policy organized by Basileia Vulnerable Persons Rights Initiative (BVPRI) and Helen Memorial Foundation (HMF) with support from Rise Up held in Kaduna.

The Public Policy Dialogue On Second Chance Policy gave participants the opportunity to understand what the Second Chance Policy is, its impact on society and how ICT Remote Learning Option will improve outcomes for the Second Chance Policy in Kaduna state.

Jenifer Abaji Esq, Executive Director BVPRI, in a chat with the media said the purpose of the Public Policy Dialogue was to bridge the identified gaps in the Second Chance Policy in Kaduna state where beneficiaries had to drop out of school a second time.

In a keynote address by the representative of the commissioner of Education, Salisu Lawal, Director planning, Ministry of Education Kaduna State He said “Therefore, this dialogue organized by the Basileia Vulnerable Persons Right Initiative and Helen Memorial Foundation (HMF) is apt and commendable. I wish to express my deep appreciation for advocating the use of ICT to increase access to dropout adolescent married girls”.

The highlight of the Public Policy Dialogue On Second Chance Policy was a panel discussion Anchored by Danjuma Abbas Dangwa. The participants in the panel were Salisu Lawal, Director planning, Ministry of Education Kaduna State; Gloria Kasang Bulus, ED Bridge That Gap; Devine Yusuf- Second Chance Policy beneficiary; and Femi Oyelola Investigative Journalist.

The Public Policy Dialogue On Second Chance Policy was attended by a cross session of participants from the Civil Society, Public Service, NGO and the Media.
