UNICEF Executive Director Globally, Catherine Russell says despite challenges faced by Nigerian children, making best choices for them will shape the country’s future for decades.
Russell spoke in Sokoto at a brief press conference on Friday after her visit to the state governor , Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto where she noted that investing in children was an investment for the future of the country.
She said the challenges don’t define the future of the country , but the extra ordinary talent , resilience and innovation of it’s people, stressing that the need to prioritise the provision of health and educational facilities and environment were key to development.
According to her ” Every child who is health, learning and protected strengthens not only their lives, but the nation, state and communities.”
” UNICEF is proud to be a trusted partner to further the lives of children.”
The State executive Director reassured UNICEF commitment to working with FG, Sokoto state, communities and development partners to ensure every child survives, thieves , learn and reaching their potentials .
” It is not all about their future but community, state and nation’, She added.
