Unkown gunmen kidnap businessman in Sokoto – NSCDC Commandant

A group of unknown gunmen were said to have kidnapped a 27-year old businessman, Alhaji Abubakar Kakirko, in Kakirko village,Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State, Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in the state, Mr Babangida Abdullahi has said.

Abdullahi who made the disclosure at a news briefing in Sokoto Tuesday said that the businessman was seized in the early hours of June 16, in his village, in the presence of his wife and three
children.

However, the suspected kidnappers were said to have demanded for a N 500,000 ransom, while the victim was said to be alive, hale and hearty.

According to him” the businessman was abducted and we are suspecting that he is
being held at the Gundumi forest, along Sokoto-Isa road.”He also disclosed that the alleged kidnappers were suspected to be keeping their victim in the Gundumi forest, along Sokoto-Isa road.

” The command is also all it could to secure the release of thekidnap victim in synergy with other security agencies.

” We will not relent our efforts until when he regains his freedom and gets reunited with his family, ” Abdullahi, added.

Abdullahi who also commented on the general security in the state, said that the command had deployed no fewer than 1005 officers and men, across the state.

According to him” we have put all the officers and men on red alert, while we have commenced 24-hours patrols and surveillance of the state.

” We are also cashing in inter-agency cooperation and intelligence sharing, while we are appealing to the residents of the state to promptly report all suspected movements and persons.

” We are also appealing to the people of the state to use the ongoing Ramadan fast to pray fervently for sustainable peace and unity of the state, as well as Nigeria,” he stated.
