Wamakko partners NYSC on skills development for youths, indigents

Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko(APC-Sokoto) has expressed readiness to support NYSC in realising it’s goal of promoting and sustaining entrepreneurship development activities in the state.

Wamakko made the pledge in Sokoto, Sunday, when he received ‎the State Coordinator of NYSC, Alhaji Musa Abubakar and his top management staff who paid the Senator a visit at his Gawon Nama residence to discuss modalities on how the scheme in the state would partner his office to boost skills acquisition in his senatorial district.
Wamakko who is also the Senate Committee chairman on Basic and Sedondary Education noted that entreprenural development drive was necessary and should be encouraged among youths ‎for the advancement of the economy as well self reliance for increased productivity.
He said it would also strengthen individual youth capacity to be creative thus, guarantee them  employment ‎and value addition to their socio-economic survival.
His words:” I see this partnership as an essential ingredient aimed at addressing the alarming unemployment surge bedevilling the country and will extend my support to the initiative.”
While thanking Senator Wamakko for acknowledging the positive drive and initiative by granting the proposal with a view to establishing a centre that would serve as venue for corps members’ post camp training , ‎the State Coordinator also stated that the centre would be training ground for both corps members and people of the community.
‎According to Abubakar” our intention is for every corps member to step down the skills learnt at the camp to ten indigents of the community at little or no cost”, he stated.
However, the skills to be learnt he said, include cosmetology, ICT, Agro allied among numerous others.
