THE Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai has reiterated the need for a responsive synergy among security agencies in order to overcome criminal activities across the country.
Speaking in Sokoto Thursday as Special Guest of Honour while commissioning array of projects at the Ginginya Barracks, 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Buratai said the military will continue to remain resilient in its operations despite the security challenges.
According to the Army Chief, the spirit of interrelation and cooperation among security agencies remain paramount and should exist to strength operational strategies in combating all manner of crime and criminality.
In this vein, the COAS said moving the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army from Maiduguri in Borno state was in tune and conformity with military readiness to tackle security challenges adding that ” it is paramount and strategic in order to tame and nip in the bud the activities of banditry and related criminal activities threatening the lives and peace of citizens .”
Buratai, represented by the Commandant, Nigerian Army Training Centre, Major General Muhammad Mahmud Mshellia said apart of operational and logistics requirements , the army was in the same vein , working to meet the infrastructural needs and requirements of its personnel through ensuring impacting projects were put in place as well the welfare of personnel.
Commending the 8 Division for addressing the welfare of personnel to enhance their efforts at combating crime by initiating and supervision of the projects, the COAS added” you have been able to squarely prioritise the welfare needs of personnel’s despite the security challenges.
” I will also like to call on the beneficiaries of the projects to maintain them for their benefits.”
Earlier, the Acting GOC, 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Aminu Bande represented by Brigadier General Hamidu Musa said the projects line up for commissioning were relevant to the operational requirements of its personnel.
However, Bande who led the representative of the COAS on inspection and commissioning of the projects said they include; the resurfacing of the 26 Battalion parade ground, 585 Sig. Regt, 8 Division Gar House, renovated SNCOS Qtrs, 26 Battalion Qtr Guard, Dental Clinic at 8 DMSH.
Those inspected by the Guest of Honour along other security agencies heads in Sokoto were dilapidated accommodation, GOC ‘s House under construction, Solar project and the 26 Battalion arms stores respectively.
