As Muslims around the world prepare to mark Eid-el-Fitr, the festival celebrating the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan, the National Chairman of Nigeria’s Action Alliance (AA), Chief Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, has extended his heartfelt felicitations to the global Muslim community.
Eid-el-Fitr, meaning “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” is one of the most significant celebrations in Islam. It comes after a month of fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection observed during Ramadan, a time dedicated to self-discipline, charity, and devotion to God. The festival is marked with communal prayers, feasting, and acts of goodwill towards family, friends, and the less fortunate.
Chief Omoaje emphasized that the conclusion of Ramadan is a moment for deep reflection on the teachings of Prophet Mohammed, urging Muslims to embody the virtues of peace, compassion, and unity. He called on adherents of the faith to continue praying for global harmony and the stability of their respective nations.
Beyond his message to the Muslim faithful, the AA Chairman used the occasion to advocate for ethical governance, urging politicians to view public service as a responsibility rather than an avenue for personal gain.
As countries across the world celebrate Eid with various cultural traditions, Omoaje also highlighted the importance of security, urging law enforcement agencies in Nigeria and beyond to remain vigilant in ensuring peaceful festivities.
Eid-el-Fitr is observed by over 1.9 billion Muslims globally, with diverse customs and celebrations varying from country to country. Whether through grand mosque gatherings in the Middle East, colorful street processions in South Asia, or community feasts in Africa, the festival remains a unifying event that underscores the values of gratitude, generosity, and social harmony.
Chief Omoaje’s message aligns with broader calls for interfaith understanding and peaceful coexistence, reinforcing the universal essence of Eid-el-Fitr as a time of joy, reconciliation, and renewed commitment to collective well-being.
