Rice Farmers in Kaduna state have described the current Anchor-Borrower policy of the federal Government as the best gift ever to the Nigerian farmers in the last twenty years.
They Rice Farmers also lauded the current presidential fertilizer Initiative of the federal Government while also pledging to take advantage of the ongoing drive towards food sufficiency and security in the country.
The Rice Farmers made the commendation when they received the Kaduna state RIFAN chairman, Alh Mohammad Umar Numbu in Lere,Kauru and Kubau local Government Areas during a visit to Flagg off the distribution of farm inputs for the 2020 wet season.
Receiving the Kaduna state RIFAN chairman, the zone one RIFAN chairman, Comrade Hassan Malami thanked the federal government and the central bank of Nigeria over their genuine and concerted efforts towards fighting poverty and unemployment through increase agricultural activities, particularly Rice production.
Comrade Hassan Malami However appealed to the relevant stakeholders to explore possible ways of availing farmers with the farm inputs, especially fertilizer in good time with a view to guaranteeing bumper harvest.
Responding, The Kaduna state RIFAN chairman, Alh Mohammad Umar Numbu expressed satisfaction over the level of compliance, especially on payment recovery and implored the beneficiaries justify the confidence reposed in them by way of paying back what the federal government has given them to guarantee sustainability of the Anchor-Borrower initiative of government on Rice production.
Alh Mohammad Umar Numbu expressed optimism that Kaduna state will in no distance future become the lead in Rice production considering the level of investment by stakeholders and the rural farmers.
In their remarks on the occasion, they chairmen of RIFAN in Lere and Kauru local government Areas,Dalhatu Abu Dardahi and Bashir Yusuf lauded the federal government and expressed confidence on the National and Kaduna state RIFAN leadership for their sacrifices to better the lots of Rice Farmers across the state.
During the occasion, assorted farm inputs for Rice production were distributed to beneficiaries of the federal government Anchor-Borrower initiative ranging from Irrigation pumps, NPK fertilizer, Rice seedlings and pesticides and the sprayers among other inputs to boost Rice production in Kaduna state.
