As Nigeria celebrates Democracy Day, the presidential candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), Adekunle Rufai Omo-Aje, has called on government officials at all levels to ensure that citizens enjoy the full benefits of democratic governance.

Omo-Aje, a grassroots politician from Ede, issued this call in a Democracy Day message to Nigerians, emphasizing that democracy should result in better living conditions for the people.
He stressed that the federal, state, and local governments must focus on providing infrastructure, creating economic opportunities, and ensuring security for all residents.
According to him, 26 years of continuous democracy should have produced noticeable improvements in the daily lives of ordinary Nigerians, especially those at the grassroots.
“Democracy is not just about elections and political offices. It is about the welfare of the people. Nigerians at all levels must feel the impact,” Omo-Aje said.
The Action Alliance candidate noted that infrastructure is the foundation of national development and must be expanded to connect communities and support commerce.
He highlighted poor roads, unreliable power supply, and inadequate water systems as areas requiring urgent government intervention in both rural and urban areas.
On the economy, Omo-Aje urged policymakers to create policies that generate jobs, support small businesses, and reduce the cost of living for families.
He noted that current economic challenges have heavily burdened households, and only deliberate government action can restore purchasing power and confidence.
The grassroots politician also emphasized security as a key benefit of democracy that leaders must provide.
He called on authorities at all levels and security agencies to urgently end banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism, and to free all Nigerians held captive by criminals.
Omo-Aje stated that increased investment in community policing, better intelligence, and modern equipment for security forces are essential to restoring peace and safeguarding lives and property.
He observed that without safety, efforts in education, agriculture, and health will remain limited and ineffective, leaving communities vulnerable.
The Action Alliance candidate praised Nigerians for their resilience and dedication to democratic values despite the economic and security challenges they have faced over the years.
He urged citizens to stay involved in the democratic process by holding leaders accountable and demanding better service.
“Democracy thrives when the people demand service and leaders respond with action. We must all play our part,” he said.
Omo-Aje wrapped up by reaffirming his party’s pledge to people-centered governance that prioritizes the welfare of Nigerians over political gain.
He urged government officials to use Democracy Day as a moment for reflection and renewed commitment to delivering the real benefits of democracy and lasting peace to all communities in Nigeria.
