Executive Secretary of TETFund, Sunny Echono gave the student body the mandate on Monday.

Echono decried the poor hostel accommodation for students, insisting that the Fund would in the near future channel more resources to building conducive ones for them.

He said students were at the core of any development programmes of the new government, hence their interest was also of great concern in its intervention efforts.

While stressing the need for equipping students with skills and rights support, Echono noted that TETFund would like the students to be its eye in various institutions, reporting erring contractors to ensure transparency in the system.

”We want to be able to identify on each campus a contact person that will be able to checkmate our projects so that we can have first-hand information, even before sending our team there.

”We are doing several engagements with other stakeholders. So, going forward, this will make our monitoring process more transparent.”

NANS President, Usman Barambu revealed that the student body has been doing discreet monitoring on behalf of the agency but said now that the mandate has been given, they will put in thorough checks across campuses to ensure that contractors who handle TETFund projects carry out such projects diligently through regular feedback.

“We are happy to state that our interaction with TETFund is yielding fruits, we are here to thank the Fund and encourage the entire management to do more and more for Nigerian students.”
