Sardauna’s grandson, Hassan Danbaba dies at 51 ….as Wamakko mourns him

The Magajin Gari (Mayor) of Sokoto and grandson of late Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna of Sokoto Premier of Northern Nigeria, Alhaji Hassan Ahmed Danbaba Marafa is dead.

Aged 51, Danbaba, according to close
family source who confirmed the death, said he slumped and died on Saturday afternoon in Kaduna.

The remains of late Danbaba, who held the title of Magajin Garin Sokoto and chairman, of Stonehedge Hotels was laid to rest in Sokoto after funeral prayer led by the Chief Imam of Sultan Bello Mosque, Imam Akwara.

In attendance at the funeral which witnessed mammoth crowd of sympathisers were Sultan of Sokoto , Muhammad Sa’ad Abubabakr, Governors Nasiru Ahemd El-Rufa’i(Kaduna), Aminu Waziri Tambuwal(Sokoto) and Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi states as well as top government functionaries, lawmakers and party chieftains .

Meanwhile, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has joined in mourning the passing on of Alhaji Hasaan Ahmed Danbaba Marafa, grandson of late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna of Sokoto.

Wamakko who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Defence and Deputy Chairman Senate Committee on Anti Corruption , expressed grief over the demise of one of the senior councillors of the Sultanate Council .

In a message of condolence released by his Media Aid, Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal, APC lawmaker and former Governor of Sokoto state , described the deceased as distinguished gentleman and respected traditional ruler who contributed immensely to the development of Sokoto Caliphate , and the nation in general.

” Sokoto Caliphate has indeed lost a father and a respected leader who lived a life of service to the Caliphate, Nigeria and humanity”, Wamakko was quoted in the released as said.

Accordingly, the lawmaker, prayed God to forgive his shortcomings and reward his good deeds with paradise.

The deceased left behind three wives and six children.

His mother, A’ishatu Ahmadu Bello, the second daughter of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, died at the age of 75 in April 2021.
