The fresh search operation is scheduled to run for 55 days. An earlier attempt to resume the search, which began in March, was suspended shortly thereafter due to poor weather conditions.
Flight MH370, a Boeing 777, disappeared in 2014 while travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, sparking the largest search in aviation history.
The flight lost contact with air traffic control less than an hour after take-off on March 8, 2014, and radar data showed it had deviated significantly from its original flight path.
The disappearance remains one of the greatest aviation mysteries, continuing to haunt the families of those who were on board.
