” This is why we dropped out turbans in support of the Senator.”

Alhaji Murtala the Ubandoman Gobir in Sabon Birni local government who is among those that vacated their titles explained that they relinquished their titles in support of the alleged embattled Senator Ibrahim Lamido for his development initiatives and quest to free the area from the shackles of banditry and kidnapping activities that have threatened the axis for long.

” It’s a well known fact that Sen. Lamido brought civilian JTF all the way from Maiduguri to fight bandits in Isa and Sabon Birni local government areas worst hits by banditry. The efforts of the lawmaker have recorded tremendous success and as communities, we are living comfortable with them.

“Imagine after investing so much on our farm lands, we cannot have access to harvest our crops due to banditry.

” I have paid ransom uncountable times for my bothers and my family members and as I am talking to you, my son is still in captivity. I have nothing pay as ransom to secure his release”, he narrated.

With same gory tale, Jamilu Gwanda Gobir and Lawali Shuaibu Taketsaba said they explored the efforts made by the Senator to free their communities from the activities of criminals terrorizing their villages.

However, the duo further pointed out that, the area has produced significant number of political office holders and higher ranking public servants but non at any given time, cared for their welfare and wellbeing like Senator Lamido.

” It’s up to Government to decide either dethrone us or allowed us to continue as community leaders, but we will continue to support the good wills of the senator” What we are doing is for the benefit of our Communities and we are doing it with their support and cooperation”

It could be recalled that, Senator Ibrahim Lamido and 2 other representative members of the national Assembly Hon. Sani Alhaji Yakubu and Hon. Bello Isah Ambarura recently pitched tents against the state party leadership , accusing the party and Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for allegedly not enough in support of Internally Displaced Persons( IDPs)scattered across the state and the fight against banditry.

Besides, Senator Lamido has not been visible within the circle of party affairs and government activities in the state such as stakeholders meetings, projects commissioning as well the epoch making grand ceremony that heralded Community Guards inauguration among numerous others thus, sending tongues wagging and casting doubts on the political status and membership of the Senator in the ruling APC in the state.

Nonetheless, Lamido recently secured admission for and sponsored 100 constituents for medical and science related courses in India. University.

The beneficiaries of the gesture were mostly from poor and weak families including some displaced by banditry in Sokoto East. This is in addition to
numerous education support initiatives to students undergoing studies in Universities and polytechnics across the country.

Accordingly, in July this year, no fewer than 200 women and widows whose husbands and breadwinners were slain by bandits with were empowered by the Senator with N250,000 naira each to engage in petty trading that will sustain their families.

His unequalled and humane spirit of gesture driven by his wavery patriotic character, endeared him to communities across Sokoto East.

Plus or minus, the alleged seeming crack on the walls of the Sokoto APC can be nipped in the bud as early as possible to tame further political bruises on its path before 2027.
