The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has demanded an immediate halt to the implementation of the newly enacted Tax Reform Acts, citing allegations that the laws were altered after being passed by the National Assembly.

This move follows a whistleblowing report by Representative Abdulsamad Dasuki (Sokoto), who last week raised an alarm over significant discrepancies between the bills approved by lawmakers and the final versions appearing in the official government gazette.
In a strongly worded statement released on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, the NBA expressed “grave concerns” regarding the transparency and credibility of the nation’s legislative process.
The Association argued that any unauthorized modification of passed legislation is a constitutional breach that undermines the rule of law.
The NBA is now calling for a comprehensive and open investigation to identify how these alterations occurred and to ensure that the integrity of Nigeria’s legislative records is restored before the tax reforms proceed.
