COAS tells troops to sustain tempo to rid terrorism

The Chief of Army Staff Farouk Yahaya has said that sustaining the tempo of operation by officers and men of the Nigerian Army would completely rid Borno and the North East of terrorism.

He made the call during a feast to celebrate Christmas with troops, journalists and other security agencies at the Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri and said the insurgents had been decimated in the region.

Yahaya, who celebrated the event alongside the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amao commended the troops and urged them to redouble their efforts in order to completely rid the North East of the remnants of terrorists.

Troops that distinguished themselves in various fields of operation and media houses that have been in the frontline throughout the insurgency were honoured and awarded.

The Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Amao at the Chief of Air Staff Christmas Luncheon with personnel of air component Operation Hadarin Daji and 213 Forward Operating Base in Katsina state said the air component of Operation Hadarin Daji had conducted a total of 1,398 missions in 1,534 raids in its efforts to decimate bandits and other criminal elements operating in the North West had been effective in degrading the capabilities of the terrorists and denying them the freedom of action in the North-West of the country.
