The Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN) has elected Maikudi Umar, popularly known as Cash Man, as its new national president. The election took place during the association’s event in Nasarawa State.
In his acceptance speech, Umar emphasized the need for greater collaboration between Kannywood and Nollywood, highlighting the potential benefits of such a partnership for the Nigerian film industry.
“Let’s work together to drive growth and development in the sector,” he urged.
Outlining his vision, Umar stated that he aims to work closely with industry stakeholders to train aspiring filmmakers in various aspects of the craft, particularly on how to monetize their content on digital platforms such as YouTube, iTunes, Twitter, and Instagram.
Additionally, he plans to bring in experts to provide specialized training in cinematography, sound, and lighting, ensuring that filmmakers meet global standards in production quality.
Recognizing the importance of international collaboration, Umar revealed that he is engaging with world embassies to secure technical support for scriptwriting training that aligns with global best practices.
He also extended an open invitation to industry professionals, encouraging discussions on potential partnerships and collaborations that would enhance the growth of the Nigerian film industry.
