The attack occurred on Thursday in the town of Kalogi, located in the South Kordofan region. The UN reported that 63 children were among the dead.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF), one of the primary combatants in the country’s ongoing civil war, was accused of mounting the attack. Accusations were leveled against the RSF by both its enemy, the army, and the medical organization, the Sudan Doctors’ Network.
The WHO’s Attacks on Health Care monitoring system confirmed that a total of 114 people died and 35 were injured in the incident.
Sudan has been ravaged by civil war since April 2023, following a power struggle that broke out between the RSF and the army, who were formerly allies.
