The approved legislation includes a bill to repeal the Federal Inland Revenue Service (Establishment) Act and another to establish both the Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Bill 2025 and the Nigeria Revenue Service Bill 2025.
These bills were passed after a detailed clause-by-clause review in the Committee of the Whole and a third reading on the Senate floor.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had submitted the four tax reform bills to the National Assembly in October 2024 for consideration and passage.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio praised the progress, expressing confidence that the reforms would not only strengthen governance but also transform tax collection and distribution nationwide.
