The retired Supreme Court Judge noted that the duo were the genesis of the myriad of challenges facing Nigeria as a nation.

People, Religion and Culture of Kebbi( Kabi), Kingdom since 1515, pointed out that the neglect covered nearly all levels of the nation’s educational system.
According to the Chairman of the occasion, ” It is disheartening, therefore, that history in spite of its relevance to the life of individuals and groups, as well as its
contributions to national development, we learn, has been phased out
of the school curricula.
” If what continue to hear about the fate of history in schools is
true, then this is shocking news for the nation, as we are merely helping to either erode or erase our own identities.”
Speaking, Sokoto state Governor, Aminu Wiziri Tambuwal while announcing adonation of a N30million grant to the institution by the trio of Sokoto, Kebbi
and Zamfara states, for further researches into the defunct Kebbi,
Gobir and Kabi Kingdoms respectively,
challenged universities in the country to to help in proffering responsive solutions to the problems affecting the nation.
Similarly,his Kebbi state counterpart, Sen. Atiku Bagudu, called for the urgentrevival and imbibing of values and ethics that the nation’s forebears used to build a solid foundation for it.
” They include honesty, dedication, patriotism, peaceful coexistence,
respect for one another, piety and patience, among others,” he added.
Also, the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Mera said any society or nation that does not know
its history, can hardly and accurately measure its progress and growth.
In his Keynote speech, Sen. Yahaya Abdullahi ( APC-Kebbi North),
called for a spirited fight against corruption in the country, revival of local industries and the training of youths in modern skills, among
others.
” We must dig deep into our history to bring forth our values and traditions in the task of tackling the major problems facing us today and building our future.
” These include knowledge and scholarhsip, selfless leadership and
strength of character, as well as tenacity, sense of purpose,
religious faith and multiculturalism, among others.
Accordingly, Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Abdullahi Zuru, said,”
the contributions of the ancestors of defunct Kebbi Kingdom and theirsuccessors in building a virile society for the last five centuries
are unparalleled.”
Zuru promised the university’s resolve to continue to contribute to
discharging its mandate of diligent teaching and learning, as well as
helping to solve societal problems through promoting standards and excellence in character and learning.
